KPO successfully completes bridge reconstruction in Uralsk

URALSK, West Kazakhstan Oblast, 7 September 2018 – Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) announced the successful completion of Depo Bridge reconstruction in Uralsk.

Authorities of the West Kazakhstan Oblast, headed by the Akim of the region Altay Kulginov, representatives of KPO, contractors and local community members of Uralsk took part in the opening ceremony.

KPO General Director Edwin Blom said: “In the course of its activities, KPO strives to ensure the maximum return from the development of the Karachaganak field for the benefit of the local communities and the Republic of Kazakhstan as a whole.

“Over the past two decades, the company has been annually implementing a big number of social projects in the West Kazakhstan region. The successful implementation of these projects became possible due to the fruitful cooperation and partnership relations established between KPO, the leadership of WKO and the PSA Authority. Overall, KPO's total investments in the development of the social infrastructure of the West Kazakhstan region have exceeded $ 353 million".

The Depo Bridge was built in 1965. It is located in the North-Eastern part of Uralsk and connects the centre of the town with new urbanized areas constructed in the last decades.

During the reconstruction of the bridge, its parameters were brought in line with modern requirements for traffic capacity, load capacity and road safety.

The bridge is 536 m long. It is worth noting that contractor has completed the reconstruction of the bridge earlier than scheduled.  At the same time, all works were completed in full compliance with Health, Safety and Environment requirements.

Early completion of the bridge reconstruction and commissioning will significantly reduce road traffic congestion and increase the level of transport safety in the centre of the town.
