AKSAI, Western Kazakhstan Oblast, 18 December 2003 – On the eve of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day more than 170 veterans of war and labour as well as needy families from the village of Berezovka and the town of Aksai have received food parcels from Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO).
Following last years’ tradition KPO has also presented 200 veterans from Burlin district with annual subscription to Kazakhstanskaya Pravda and Egemen Kazakhstan newspapers. In addition, employees from the company have invited 44 children from the Burlin orphanage for a festive lunch in one of the restaurants in Aksai.
Head of KPO community relations Issak Sekeev said: “KPO operates a good neighbour policy and we are pleased to be able to help out veterans and needy families on important occasions like Independence Day”.
Speaking about the KPO initiative chief of district council of veterans Sadyk Murzagaliyev said: “Our veterans are always pleased to be able to supplement their pensions and they were delighted with KPO’s gifts”.
Each year KPO invests $ 10 million towards development of social infrastructure in Western Kazakhstan. In addition to that the company also allocates more than 40 million tenge for local sponsorship projects in the fields of health, sports, education and culture.
