KPO representatives attended a technical workshop called ‘State-of-the-art technologies for oil production efficiency improvement and enhanced recovery methods’ that was held on 22 of November at Korme Exhibition Centre in Astana. The event was jointly organized by National Company KazMunaiGas, JSC KING (Kazakh Institute of Oil & Gas) and ALSTRON Company under the support of the RoK Ministry of Oil and Gas.
The technical workshop was attended by the RoK Minister of Oil and Gas Mr U. Karabalin, Vice-Minister of Oil & Gas M. Mirzagaliyev, Deputy CEO of KazMunaiGas T. Bimagambetov, Advisor to the Chairman of KAZENERGY Association N. Ibrashev, and Laurent Chopiton, Attaché on economic affairs of the French Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
KPO presentations on ‘Selective Stimulation in Karachaganak Wells’ and ‘Gas Re-injection into the Reservoir’ presented by Reservoir Development Manager Khakim Baigazin and Well Intervention Engineer Gulmira Kushkumbayeva were received with great interest by the workshop participants. In addition, the workshop also included presentations of representatives of Chevron, SNF Floerger, Schlumberger Logelco Inc., ROXAR and other companies.
As Operations Director, Luca Vignati, noted, ‘KPO, in many aspects of its business activities, provides a good example of best practices for all oil & gas companies operating both in Kazakhstan and abroad’.

Karachaganak today is a world-class operation with multibillion investments, record production levels, innovative technologies and the concept of sustainability imbedded in all aspects of our activity’, added Luca Vignati.
Upon completion of the seminar its participants concluded that such events are very useful because they ensure efficient exchange of best practices, experience and achievements among participating companies which, in its turn, promotes further development of potential and capabilities of oil and gas industry professionals.
