CELEBRATIONS WITH KPO, 03.06.2004

AKSAI, Western Kazakhstan Oblast, 3 June 2004 – Twenty five children from Burlin Boarding School aged 6 to 18 participated in a special event organised by Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. (KPO) on the occasion of International Child Protection Day.

The celebration started in KPO Training Centre where the children were invited to see a demonstration by the rope access training instructors. After that they were taken to the company’s accommodation camp where they enjoyed a barbeque followed by some recreation and entertainment, at the end of which everyone received gifts from the Children’s Welfare Committee whose activity is supported by voluntary contributions from Karachaganak employees.

The principal of Burlin Orphanage, Aklima Nuraliyeva, noted: “The children were so glad to attend the celebration. We would like to thank KPO for their support of our boarding school and it is great that they regularly organise celebrations similar to the one that we enjoyed today”.

The manager of KPO Training Centre and a member of the Children’s Welfare Committee Dave Foster said: “Our friendship and collaboration with Burlin Boarding School began a long time ago and up to the present time we together with our contractors CCC-Saipem and Denholm Zholdas have already implemented a number of important projects aimed at improving living conditions of its residents.

“We will continue rendering this social support in the future”, added Dave Foster.

As known, KPO annually invests $10 million into social infrastructure development in Western Kazakhstan and allocates more than KZT40 million towards local sponsorship projects in the fields of healthcare, sports, education and culture.
