KPO delegation visited South Kazakhstan Oblast

SHYMKENT, South Kazakhstan Oblast, 10 August, 2017 – A delegation of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) headed by General Director, Renato Maroli, has visited South Kazakhstan Oblast (SKO).  The visit was organized with the support of the Akimat of West Kazakhstan Oblast as part of the interregional interaction and cooperation.

During the visit, there was an expanded meeting attended by the Akims of South Kazakhstan and West Kazakhstan Oblasts, senior managers of KPO, the PSA LLP as well as manufacturers of the host region. The main issue of the agenda was the prospects of the SKO industrial enterprises’ participation in the development of the Karachaganak Oil and Gas Condensate Field.

In addition, KPO representatives visited some large enterprises of the region and got acquainted with their products.

When touring the production facilities of Karlskrona LC AB LLP the guests were introduced to several manufacturing units such as lines for the fabrication of medium and low voltage cabinets, recently launched jointly with the Italian company Alfaquadri, and a pumps assembly workshop.

Also, during the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between KPO and Kentau Transformer Plant for the supply of local transformers, and as well as a contract for the manufacture and supply of oil well cement between KPO’s contractor - Baker Hughes and JSC Shymkentcement.

The supply of the RoK produced oil well cement for the needs of the Karachaganak field had been initiated by KPO as part of the Company’s Local Content Development Programme and the Memorandum of Understanding on the development of national industry.

During the ceremony, Renato Maroli, KPO General Director noted: “KPO makes every effort to increase the use of Kazakhstani goods, works and services in all areas of the company’s activity.  This objective has and will always be one of KPO's priorities which is testified by today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Kentau Transformer Plant, and the contract between Shymkentcement, JSC and our contractor Baker Hughes who have all along been supportive of KPO’s initiative for localization of goods”.

“We welcome every opportunity to expand the list of our business partners and look forward to establishing new mutually beneficial relationships”, added Renato Maroli.

On behalf of the delegation, Renato Maroli thanked the SKO Akimat for their hospitality and wished the local enterprises further success in their business endeavors.

KPO is one of the first companies in Kazakhstan, which has successfully implemented its local content programme.  More than 4100 Kazakhstani vendors are currently registered in KPO supplier database. Since signing the FPSA in 1997, the total value of goods, works and services supplied by local companies has exceeded $6.32 billion.

In the first half year 2017, the share of local content on Karachaganak reached 51.8 per cent.
